Introduction to Screen Printing
6 October @ 11:00 am - 5:00 pm
A one-day workshop, held in the Orangery, introducing you to the art of silk screen printing. You will learn different printing techniques to produce one-off and repeat prints. You can take those skills away with you to carry on printing at home.
The morning session will begin with a tour of the gardens led by our Head Gardener, Graeme, to gather inspiration for your prints. Back in the Orangery, you’ll learn about the basic principles of screen printing by experimenting with paper cut stencils which produce bold and effective prints. In the afternoon you will move onto setting up a screen using a blocking fluid technique to produce a more detailed print that can be reproduced multiple times.
You will have 1m of fabric plus a canvas tote bag to print onto. All materials, printing equipment and refreshments are supplied. Please bring an apron or painting shirt, a packed lunch and a sketch book and pencils. Suitable for beginners or as a refresher course.
Our print workshops are run by Rachel Moore, a Kent based artist and printmaker who has been running workshops for children and adults since 2005, so you’ll be in safe hands!
