Courtyard Development Update

Work is progressing well in the courtyard, with exciting changes taking shape behind the scenes. While much of the activity is carefully managed to minimise disruption, there’s a great deal happening as we restore and enhance this historic area.

You may have noticed that progress has taken a little longer than expected. This is due in part to the discovery of bats on site, which are a protected species. As a result, some elements of the programme have been carefully adjusted to ensure all work is carried out in line with conservation guidelines.

Within the stables, original stall features have been thoughtfully dismantled and safely stored for future use, ensuring that their character is preserved as the project moves forward. Inside the apartment, historic stone slabs have been carefully lifted, numbered, and set aside while essential structural work is carried out beneath them.

As a result of the adjusted programme, the Tearoom will be located in the Orangery for the 2026 season while work continues in the courtyard.

Alongside this, significant improvements to the site’s infrastructure are underway. A new water supply has been installed across the park, with further work planned to complete the connections while protecting the surrounding gardens and lawns.

We look forward to sharing further updates as the courtyard continues to evolve, revealing a thoughtfully restored space for visitors to enjoy in the future.
